As Public Inquiry Committee, we focus on the impacts of Covid – 19 pandemic including the impacts of measures taken to handle the same, such as the lockdown, access to healthcare etc. During the course of this process, we collectively emphasise on public health impacts, broader impacts on society including those of education, economic impacts of the pandemic and the lockdown.

We also interrogate the consequences of government policies during the pandemic that caused people displacement, livelihood loss and other hardships.

The repercussion of the pandemic and the government policies are in no way linear. What started primarily as a health crisis soon cascaded its deadly impacts on almost every aspect of our lives due to the way in which it was dealt with. As the government makes no effort to address and investigate the impacts of mass suffering due to the pandemic and the lockdown, it falls on the public to hold the government and their actions accountable.

We deserve justice so we seek.

Public Inquiry Committees engage with the direct impacts of every aspect of the pandemic on the ground and the People’s Commission eventually take up the investigation of state response to the pandemic and other broader issues.
